Situated in central London it is hard to imagine a more peaceful setting for a group or individual retreat.
Joyful of our religious roots we welcome groups and individuals who wish to come to St Katharine’s for reflection and worship.
Our Woodard Reading room is the natural choice for a private retreatant with a desk for writing and easy chairs for contemplation. Alternatively the private individual can book a bedroom for overnight stays, also with a desk, and use the garden and chapel as space for peaceful thinking.
Groups of organised retreatants hire a larger meeting room. Use of a piano and organ are also offered to groups who can request exclusive use of the chapel during their at St Katharine’s.
For groups of six or more retreatants we offer the opportunity to book meals in our communal refectory. In this relaxed and informal setting, people come together to share meals with members of different groups.
All retreatants are welcomed into our beautiful chapel which is the hub of St Katharine’s and is open at all times. A space of warmth, light and architectural beauty, it inspires thoughtfulness and tranquility..
The Chapel at St Katharine’s embodies the very spirit which we strive to create. Recently reordered, the new architecture blends seamlessly with the old, bringing light and airy beauty. A shelter for those who are troubled and a place of celebration for those who are joyous, the compass at the centre of the chapel reminds the visitor that “We do not come to God by navigation but by love.” Soaring beams and large windows provide a feeling of peace and light, giving the enterer the opportunity to gain perspective and rest.
